Muhammad is currently undefeated in 10 Ultimate Fighting Championship outings, including a no contest against Leon Edwards due to an accidental eye poke. While “Remember the Name” was initially expected to challenge Edwards at UFC 296 in December 2023, that shot instead went to Colby Covington, who went on register his third failed title bid. Muhammad's name was also missing from a list of three opponents reportedly offered to Edwards for UFC 300 in April. Anik had also previously made a case for Muhammad to receive his long overdue title shot.
Meanwhile, Edwards hasn’t lost a fight since 2015 and has successfully defended his 170-pound throne twice thus far.
